Laura :

J’ai joint Toastmasters pour peaufiner mes habiletés de parler en public et pour pratiquer mon leadership. Travailler sur ces deux éléments pourra m’aider à faire avancer ma carrière et ma vie personnelle.  Je suis ravie de joindre une aussi belle équipe.

Olivier:

I’m working on aquiring the tools to influence the implementation of stricter laws on cybersecurity as a lobbyist.

We like to ask our members to share why they decided to join our club. This is what they mention.

Sylvie :

Je ne suis pas une personne timide, mais je manque de confiance en moi. Lorsque je prends la parole en public, je ne suis pas à l’aise. J’ai terriblement le trac et j’ai peur de bafouiller…

Oui, je peux faire faire le clown, pas de problème ! Mais parler sérieusement devant un auditoire, ça, c’est une autre paire de manches. J’ai l’intention de parler en public pour faire des ateliers de Bien-Être et pour ça je dois savoir parler en public.

William:

I often find myself having to speak in front of a group of individuals at work, to either present a report, instruct a group of colleagues or simply weigh in on a subject matter. Despite being comfortable with it, it would be an over-exaggeration to say that I have mastered the art of public speaking. Indeed despite watching master orators and sophists, I find myself to be lacking clarity and finesse in my delivery.

So after much research, I decided to attend St-Lawrence Toastmasters to see what it takes to be a Toastmaster. I was mesmerized on the very first evening by the calibre of the presentations, the dedication shown by the members and last but not least, the welcoming atmosphere.

Nous aimerions souhaiter la bienvenue à notre nouveau membre Julien, qui a décidé de se lancer dans l’aventure Toastmasters pour améliorer ses capacités de s’exprimer en public.

Nous aimons toujours demander à nos membres ce qui les a motivés à se joindre à notre club Toastmasters à Montréal. Voici ce que Julien nous partage :

C’est toujours avec un certain inconfort que je parle publiquement dans le cadre de mon travail. Étant une personne cherchant continuellement à s’améliorer, je me suis donné comme objectif d’être en mesure de livrer des messages clairs, motivants et inspirants à mon auditoire, et ce, tout en étant confortable et relaxe dans cette tâche.

Plusieurs personnes influentes de mon entourage m’ont décrit Toastmasters comme étant une mine d’or pouvant définitivement m’aider à améliorer mon art oratoire. J’ai rapidement réalisé le plein potentiel du Club St.Lawrence Toastmasters dès ma première participation à une de leurs soirées. J’étais vendu dès ce moment-là!

We always like to ask new members to share with us some of the reasons why they joined Toastmasters. Here is what they have to say…

Robyn:

I joined St-Lawrence Toastmasters to not only practice my public speaking skills in French and English but to become more assertive in all areas of my life by communicating with purpose and integrity. As someone more soft-spoken, this is a challenge for me but one that I’m excited to take on. This in turn will have a big impact on my journey as an aspiring entrepreneur!

Andrew:

I heard about Toastmasters through an acquaintance and a podcast I listen to. Through positive reviews, I decided to try it as a guest. Upon coming to St. Lawrence Toastmasters, I really liked the group vibe for constant improvement and encouragement. My motivation for joining is to become a better communicator in work and social situations. I feel with the welcoming and positive environment at St. Lawrence I can accomplish this goal and am always excited to learn more about speaking and about the club members who are always there to help and encourage.

Melanie:

I am naturally a very shy and reserved person. Public speaking has always been challenging but over the years, I have made it one of my goals to improve my public speaking and communication skills. After participating as a guest at a few toastmasters meetings, I know that this club will help me reach my potential.

Les vacances d’été tirent à leur fin, et le Club St-Lawrence Toastmasters à Montréal vous souhaite un bon retour!

C’est le mardi 3 septembre 2019 que nous reprendrons nos réunions hebdomadaires.

Comment Toastmasters peut-il vous aider à vous exprimer plus efficacement en public ou à devenir un leader plus compétent? En vous aidant à identifier et à renforcer les habiletés que vous avez déjà, et en vous aidant à développer et à améliorer les autres.

Toastmasters vous permettra notamment d’apprendre à donner des discours bien structurés, inspirants, et même émouvants.
