The videos of the St-Lawrence Toastmasters 65th anniversary celebration are now available for viewing. 

The evening was an occasion for us to celebrate our club’s 65th anniversary in a nice dinner setting, surrounded by members, family and friends. 

Of course, this was an excellent opportunity for our members to put to use what they learn at Toastmasters, such as being master of ceremonies of the evening, giving toasts, giving entertaining speeches, and welcoming some new members to the Hall of Fame.

Félicitations et merci aux membres de notre club Toastmasters St-Lawrence, qui se sont impliqués dans les activités de la Conférence Toastmasters de l’automne 2013 du district 61. 

Nous tenons surtout à remercier Martina Kugler (qui nous a représenté lors du concours d’évaluation en français), Pietro di Benedetto (qui a aidé à accueillir David Brooks, le conférencier vedette de la conférence Toastmasters) ainsi que Alex Chan (qui a donné un atelier sur comment préparer et livrer des présentations PowerPoint plus efficaces).

We recently had two members join our St-Lawrence Toastmasters Club in Montreal.  John and Pier-Luc both started visiting our club roughly around the same time, and they each quickly came to see that Toastmasters could help them reach their goals.

As John mentions, “The main reason I joined Toastmasters is to  break down the wall of fear which presents itself whenever I have to speak in front of several people, to be more confident, and at ease.  I’ve been to 3 meetings and am enjoying the atmosphere, the talks, and my fellow toastmasters, they are all wonderful people. I am already looking forward to the next meeting!”

We recently welcomed a new member to our Toastmasters club in Montreal.  Margaret discovered Toastmasters at the suggestion of her radio producer who mentioned it in one of their conversations.

Since Margaret wants to share and inspire her audience with modern and ancient techniques for living life to its fullest at any age, she feels that Toastmasters will provide her the necessary skills to be able to effectively communicate with ease and grace, and to present in a manner that will be simple to understand and easy to remember.

We would like to wish a warm welcome to our new Toastmasters member Andrew.

Andrew visited our club a few times and finally decided to join us. As he mentions, “I joined Toastmasters because I felt that it was a conducive environment to improve public speaking skills. The atmosphere is friendly, the quality of the speakers are exceptional, and the feedback you receive is great as well. I found myself quickly gaining a lot of confidence and improving within a few weeks as a guest. I just knew this was the right place for me.”

Julie actually came to Toastmasters through a suggestion from her professor.

As she puts it, “The reason I chose to attend Toastmasters is, not only improve my public speaking skills, but also to better myself as a person in all aspects of my life.
Since I am majoring in marketing, I am confident the skills learned will help me now and in the future when I start my career. My only regret is not joining Toastmasters sooner.”
