Club president Tommy welcomes Xenia to St. Lawrence Toastmasters

We like to ask our new members to share with us the reasons they joined our club. Here is what Xenia has to say:

Toastmasters, in my opinion, is not just a place to develop skills, but also to share perspectives, grow a little every time and cultivate a richer emotional world. It’s all about the journey, not the destination and I am truly happy to have started my journey with the St. Lawrence Toastmasters family.

Nous avons l’habitude à notre club de demander à nos membres de partager avec nous les raisons pour lesquelles ils se sont joints à Toastmasters, ou les buts qu’ils aimeraient se donner.

Henry visited us on a couple of occasions, and then decided that he indeed wanted to become a member of our club.

Club president Tommy welcomes Henry to St. Lawrence Toastmasters

We like to ask our new members what goals they would like to set for themselves.  Here is what Henry has to share with us:

I’m a multilingual Montrealer, but my presentation skills in French were lacking.  I was made aware of St. Lawrence Toastmasters’ reputation for developing exceptional bilingual speakers, and after a few visits, I saw why. And so, I joined this club as part of my effort to become a good public speaker in French. I have no doubt I’ll attain that goal here!

Here is the programme for the meeting of November 28, 2017.

Smile)

I joined Toastmasters because it is a place where people come to grow and give each other the opportunity to expand their voice and enhance their skills. It is a unique place, and an important one. I am looking forward to this adventure, this new pathway, and St. Lawrence Toastmasters has an inspiring group of Toastmasters to be on this voyage with.

The Saint-Lawrence Toastmasters Club in Montreal would like to welcome Caroline.

Caroline
Tommy (our new club president for 2017-2018) welcomes Caroline to the club

We always like to ask our new members to share with us the reasons they decided to join our club.

Here is what Caroline writes:

I recently decided to join Toastmasters (for a second time and this time with the intention of being totally engaged) for several reasons :

Communication is a way to show what we are about and who we are.  With that regards, Indians talk about developing the 5th chakra. I feel this is something in my life that needs improvement.  In the past, I have tested myself with running marathons, my studies and getting a black belt in karate.  Now my new challenge is public speaking.  Why public speaking?

  • To develop leadership skills
  • To inspire
  • Personal growth
  • Use the audience as a lab for feedback for work related discussion topics (products and services)

I have decided to join the St-Lawrence Toastmasters Club mostly because I see the group as being very diversified culturally, professionally and age-wise.  There is also a family atmosphere that I like and this distinction made me adopt the club as my new household where I can grow to give and to receive.
